Top 7 Scariest Monsters and Creatures in the Philippines

Top 7 Scariest Monsters and Creatures in the Philippines
I swear, this is what my University turns into when it rains hard. Thank you, Climate Change.

Foreign monsters are so overrated; so overrated that you think Philippine pantheon of ghost stories and monsters are nothing but a clumsy joke compared to them.  You might be the type of person who chuckles every time you see an aswang, a kapre, a dwende, white ladies or sloppy pop-culture references on Philippine national TV and the Big screen. But since it is Halloween season, allow me to show you the pure, unadulterated terrors of the Philippine myth and urban legends that can join the ranks of Lovecraft’s eldritch abominations...

7 Of My All-Time Favorite Authors

by
7 Of My All-Time Favorite Authors
Back when I was kid, stuffs like eating hot-dogs were a trophy to me; that’s how simple I think of life is. Although my mom always pushes me to read books to have something in my brain, I prefer ditching them on the sideline.  I was that naive. I thought I was enjoying my kid-life to the fullest. When I was halfway through my elementary years, I gradually developed a hunger for books. I really don’t know why, but I feel like I’m compelled to go the library and be a geek. But don’t get me wrong; I’m not into encyclopedias and/or historical books. These hardbound-nth-pages books were not part of my reading circles. The Hardy Boys, Franklin W. Dixon’s literary pieces, were my thing. At the same time, I never imagined that I’ll indulge with Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew. I’m quite the Sherlock Holmes during my youth. Anyway, let me share to you my seven (7) all-time authors that influenced my literary being.

Applying Carl Jung's Individuation In The Movie Inception

by
Injecting Carl Jung's Individuation In The Movie Inception
Yesterday, I decided to watch the movie Inception together with my wife regardless of my reluctance. Why? I do know that this film is quite complex yet interesting and requires one to fully comprehend every uttered word. But, my copy has no decent audio and subtitles. Thus, recognizing the movie’s transition was a feat for me. Nonetheless, I still handled the situation effectively –by putting my ears on the speakers, literally. Anyway, if you have had watched the movie Inception, you’ll certainly understand why I’m writing this down. At the same time, I know that you’re still wondering about the true meaning behind the ending of the movie. Don’t worry; we’re on the same page. However, I still managed to pull out, at least, some significant symbols in the movie that could somehow address the movie’s ambiguity.

The Perks of Having a Nice Cover

by

Him from Powerpuff Girls as Palahniuk's new model

Because idiots are rampant on the bookstores these days (including me), you can gain gazillions of money (pathetic hyperbole is intended!) by writing lorem ipsum dolor in the mid section of your generic story and sticking a kickass design on its cover. Read the stuff I wrote during my college days about book cover designs. I'm warning ya', read it!

The 7 Controversial Kid's Books

by

ContreversialOkay stop right there, I know what you’re thinking. First of all, this one is not about that endless surge of “top 10 gruesome fairy tale” stuffs that you recently read in several article websites. Here, I wanted to talk about a quite similar stuff, something like, their cousin. Yeah, I want to talk about children’s book. Well, what’s up with them?
The truth is, not all the children’s book is as innocent as you thought they were. In fact some of them are even banned because of their quite very inappropriate content for children. Imagine reading your child gay stuffs, violence or, well you know, out of this world weirdness. They are like Red Hot Chili Peppers’ album because well, they contain blood, sugar, sex and magic. Well kids, here comes the top 7 most controversial children’s books.
