Every time I open my Facebook account, I always chance upon this lady doing this mania, Selfie. Yes, from Mondays-Sundays, she doesn't seem to miss a single day posting a photo of her while pouting her lips (or, much known as the duck face). And, believe me or not, more and more people do like her photos. Personally, I don’t get the connection to why such pose is likable when all she did was pose sideways, tilt her head a little and pout her lips–Voila! Well, I guess this is simply her way of telling the world that she’s beautiful. I really don’t believe in the latter, though.
Even companies have their own way of using the "Selfie." |
However, as the days went by, this Selfie mania is growing quite hilarious and viral. Indeed, with how
influential the Internet world is, getting your face known to other side of the world is pretty much easy. Hence, the Selfie mania is starting to conquer every corner of the social media sites and/or websites that you’re in. Trust me. If you’re trying to search for something in Google especially images, there’s a possibility that you’ll get to see pictures of people doing this craze. This is most especially in Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Not only famous celebrities are into it, but common individuals who find themselves fit to do a selfie.
Now, how about this? |
I really don’t have a problem with these people who indulge in this type of activity (if I may call it). In fact, I’m just an average guy who is curious about the different things around him. In regards to being a Selfie, however, it’s not really a concern. I just notice inappropriateness as it becomes widely used, and I want to find that certain connection. Think of those individuals who are about to commit suicide and/or crying because their boyfriends/girlfriends left them, do you think doing a Selfie is just appropriate? Or, is it because they want to gain sympathy, and the only way to do it is posting a Selfie in social media sites? Think of a friend who just went to a funeral, and still has the courage to take a picture of her beside the coffin while not minding the fact that a person just died. And, much worst, she posted it on FB with the status, “My sincerest condolences.” Think of those ladies who strike a pose with their lips pouted and cleavage ready to burst as if inviting people to take the leap of faith. And they would incorporate a very lengthy description about beauty and/or what’s the real essence of a woman. Is it logical to say that they’re just trying to express? Well, it’s acceptable as long as they don’t complain with men feasting on their photos and commenting filthy words, “Love those t****es,” or “I really want to have s*x with you.” Do you really think that’s fair enough to say that they are all just doing a Selfie?
The epitome of a worst-ever Selfie. |
I do know that it’s not their real intention, and it’s up to the people on what their reactions would be. I’m
totally OKAY with that. However, I do hope they understand the fruit of their actions or let’s say, Selfie. It is because most, if not all, of people around the globe have the same mind with Hades. You never know what will happen. If you’re in the Philippines, remember how that Gay comedian made fun of individuals taking Selfie pictures of them? Stating how pissed and disturbed it (the Gay comedian) is with people doing Selfie inappropriately. You simply can’t tell. Nonetheless, there’s no law that prohibits one to do such. Thus, the Selfie mania lives on. And, I might just be bracing myself from time to time.
