7 Memphis May Fire Songs To Check Out

When I first heard of the rumors regarding the demise of Vans Warped Tour, the first band that came to my mind was Memphis May Fire. Although I might not be out there seeing how they perform live on stage, the thought of ending the prestigious event is quite disturbing. They're one of my greater influences when it comes to musicianship and songwriting. I never get tired of listening to their songs and, most especially, watching their music videos. Memphis May Fire is, by essence, the type of band that weaves music from the depths of life. Yes, you'll see exactly what I mean basing on the songs they have had written so far. On the other hand, the maturity they have in terms of musicality and relationship within the band is indeed tremendous. I just hope that one day, people will see the true message that Memphis May Fire is trying to convey.

7. Prove Me Right

This song talks about the struggles that many artists/bands face with their labels as they go through with their musical endeavors. From how they should play their music to the money they should be getting (which barely happens), MMF has found a way to emphasize it on this music video.

6. Ghost in the Mirror

The official soundtrack of the gore movie Saw on its sixth (6th) sequel. In here, one can depict the technicality that Matty Mullins has in writing the lyrics, and the way he weaves melodies all over.

5. Legacy

As always, we have that innate desire to conquer our dreams and show to the world what we are capable of despite the oppression we get . In this song, Memphis May Fire did a nice job to relay that message.

4. Miles Away

With the addition of Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens, this song is one of my favorites. Basically, the song was created by Matty for her wife, which describes the longings he has for her when on tour, and how he misses her from time to time.

3. The Unfaithful

Without a doubt, you really love the melody of this song (especially that Matty is the one who personally wrote this). However, this piece is more than that; it deals about the certain cause that makes a relationship fail -- being unfaithful, that is.

2. Vices

Recently released this year, the music video discusses about the various vices people indulge into in a daily basis. At the same time, the song shows the inevitable results that one can get from being poisoned to such scenario. We can certainly perceive the band's stand on alcohol drinking, drug abuse, etc. Needless to say, they are definitely a straight-edge group.

1. The Sinner

Of all their songs, The Sinner directly conveys the Christianity that Matty has. Growing in a family with such belief and orientation, he relays the concept of a typical person -- one that faces predicaments and/or struggles regardless of the fame he has. Basically, this song explains the need of salvation -- one that is found through Jesus Christ which Matty proudly states in his past interviews when asked about the song, The Sinner.

Disclaimer: I own nothing of the above videos, and are sole properties/copyrighted of/by the band, Memphis May Fire, and the respective labels/productions that each video/song corresponds.
